Man is a social animal. So we blog.
How else will we find out about Katrina’s love interest or the newest conspiracy theory in town? Imagine not being able to read about Oprah’s diet, Coelho’s nugget of wisdom or Dilbert’s latest antics? We have 140 million people reading blogs daily and the internet is teeming with zillions of articles on the Who, What, When, Why and Where of everything.
And these are just the blogs on celebrities. What about those by not-so-important people? People like you and me? We read blogs and some of us write them so we can share our experiences, experiments and expertise. We find out who else loves dogs, who has the most amazing recipe for chocolate fondue or who has the nuttiest take on politicians.
We browse, we choose. We connect with the writers, tap into their thoughts and opinions and build a community of people who think and feel like we do.
So here is my blog where I hope to write stuff that you’ll find informative and interesting. About people and places, reading and writing, living and loving, movies and TV, bosses and bullies. I might throw in an odd piece on Brian Weiss and reincarnation; a rant on fear-mongers who send us scurrying to gyms; or a diatribe on how Kali Yuga is taking over our morals!
You can look forward to liberal doses of laughter ― gentle humour or a quick poke in the ribs. Sarcastic, snide, even stupid. For life is too short and unpredictable to be taken seriously.
I will of course share my experiences on writing and on finding a publisher for my novel. Yeah, I’m a writer who has churned out ads, web content, TV commercials, radio jingles, newspaper articles, video scripts and stuff that’s written on your tube of toothpaste. My first novel, The Madras Mangler, a crime thriller, has just been launched online and in book stores. Click here to find out more and to read a snippet from it.
I look forward to your ideas and comments. Let’s discuss, debate and discover things together. Tell me what you like to read, not just in blogs but in books as well. Do you favour romances, thrillers, action, myths, fantasy or horror? I’d love to hear from you.
