‘I shall read one more chapter,’ I said and read it in one go! New Asian Writing
Review in New Asian Writing by Divya R Bandodkar. Read online: here.
The story of Pradyumna is an inspiration in itself. The start of the actual tale takes time (I found it kind of slow at the very beginning) but then as you read through the chapters, the pace sort of builds up gradually. But I believe that it was necessary for readers like me who are not well informed about Gods. The naming of the chapters has been done very well. The name itself creates curiosity and you won’t feel like putting the book down. ‘I shall read one more chapter for the day and stop,’ I said after every chapter and finished reading it all in one go.
There are many characters and I found that justice has been done to all of them. The reader won’t feel lost anytime, throughout the read. The authoress has introduced all the characters in such a way that the reader won’t feel it to be an introduction at all. The characters and the scenes have been so beautifully portrayed that the reader will most likely draw a picture in his mind. The narration is excellent. The authoress has the power to keep the reader glued to the story with her narration.
Overall, Pradyumna is a must read for all mythology lovers. It doesn’t only talk about wars. It talks about love, friendship, devotion, passion and dedication.
