The blurb:

Love is in the air again… and this time it’s steamy, bold and manipulative! Gayatri, a rich, spoiled diva, is fighting to establish herself even as her tyrant father pushes her into a life not of her choice. Viraj is a genius and a con who shuns society and its hypocrisies.

Gayatri sees Viraj only as a means to an end. For Viraj, Gayatri is the epitome of all that he despises. So when their paths cross, it is a battle of feisty wills and desire.

Will Gayatri and Viraj prove to be each other’s salvation or annihilation? From the best-selling author of Right Fit Wrong Shoe and Wrong Means Right End comes Rightfully Wrong Wrongfully Right. All the unforgettable characters of the earlier two bestsellers make a comeback in this unforgettable story of hurt, hearts and hope. This is a tumultuous journey of two Wrongs who might just make everything Right!

My Review:

I have not read any of Varsha Dixit’s books which is why I picked this one up with a fair amount of interest. I also found the red cover with the shiny silver hearts, cupcake and other motifs eye-catching. The book opens with a note from the author indicating that it features recurrent characters as it is part of a series about three women in different phases of their lives. Fortunately, this story worked as a standalone as well and did not require my having read the earlier ones. Next follows the list of chapter headings which were intriguing ― ‘The Crazy Mad Scientist’, ‘Pimp I Am’ and ‘Monkeys and Manuals’.

The mad scientist Dr Viraj Dheer is introduced in the first chapter and we hear him talking to sparrows and telling them that they should go looking for worms and not wait for handouts. He then goes on to do his push-ups, watched by a flirty aunty and her flirty daughter. A quirky and interesting beginning to the story! Once we are hooked by this offbeat sketch, we are introduced to the designer suit, silk blouse clad Gayatri Dutta and her frenemies Sneha and Nandini. We hear about Gayatri’s father who wants her to live with him in Amsterdam and marry the rich groom of his choice. Sneha and Nandini suggest that Gayatri take up a job as Operations Manager in Viraj’s lab, a post that has seen not one but four candidates in the past two months.

The stage is set. Gayatri and Viraj meet, sparks fly and their interactions stop just short of fisticuffs. She has a plan and he has one too, though we are kept guessing on what these may be. A sweet young thing, Sana, who works in the lab too, is the third side to the triangle. We read on, waiting to discover how the author will attain her fairytale ending. The story moves briskly along as you are caught up in the action and interaction between the characters.

The language is smooth. The dialogues are fun. The humorous asides keep you smiling. But then it becomes too much of a good thing. The story is carried forward almost entirely through dialogue and this prevents the reader from having quieter moments that can lead to a deeper understanding of emotions and motivations. One other problem I had with the book was that there were quite a few editing errors that made me pause and go back to figure out what was wrong.

Overall, this book is as shiny and sparkling as its cover. I would definitely recommend it to lovers of romance.
